Community Center
BEKCC is a non-profit 501C3 organization established in June of 2008. BEKCC opened in response to the will of Bosnian people living in Colorado numbering by unofficial count around 5000 people, which not all are the members of this community.
From 2008 and until June 2011 BEKCC was renting place to preform its duties for our members and in that period of time the community was able to raise 350,000.00 dollars through fundraisers, donations and membership fees, and purchased a church, which then was converted into a mosque and Community Center for the surrounding area of the church. The purchase was paid in full. At this time we’re able to utilize only the basement of the building as the rest of it is under-going a renovation.
BEKCC is a islamic faith-based organization focused on serving and meeting the need of mentoring, counseling, and teaching all youths and adults in the Denver community as well as serving Bosnian people. Our students range from age 6 to age 21, and currently have 60 students, which are also being educated on Bosnian language and history. The center also promotes American culture, traditions and teaches the students history of this great nation that has given us the place to have a free life. The community also organizes sporting events to promote healthy life styles and abstinence of drugs and alcohol. This is a humanitarian organization who is also taking a special interest in helping elderly and less fortunate in the community.
We have a good relationship with our local community. The center has several collaborating efforts helping Children’s Hospital, homeless shelters and others throughout the Denver area.
The center is financed exclusively through membership fees, grants, donations and fundraisers. Currently we have about 200 members and growing.
